Friday, September 17

today is my first today to myself, or i suppose more precisely by myself, recently, but i don't much feel like blogging. i've made some strides toward reordering my cd collection, taken a half-dozen empty boxes down to the basement, finally gotten around to signing my lease rider, made a date to get a job, eaten a bowl of cereal (kashi's medley = i'm a fan, although premixed cereal definitely does not fit within the cereal-mixing ethos), and made a list of exciting upcoming concerts.

tell me, what is a fan of nifty girlsingers to do on tuesday twelve october? -- mirah heads up the bill at the unitarian church basement, while jolie's at the north star and juana and keren are across town at the tin angel, not to mention rosebuds at the khyber -- but unfortunately the choice is easily made, because yo la tengo are playing acoustic in the sanctuary, and i can't stand to miss them again.

there's a lot of communicatin' i'd like to do, but now i better bust to play some casio for probably ill-advised abba/who mash-up cover (abba o'riley?) back at s'more. it's a favor for a friend: he and his pickup helped me move my shelves and other furniture here from out the barn on tuesday, so.

oh, okay. i have an apartment now. or a house, or something. in philadelphia. it's in antique row, which may or may not be coterminous with the geighborhood but is certainly super central and convenient to most of my favorite things in philly. relevant parties will be receiving the particulars by gmail shortly, or even sooner on request. i have two roommates: ivelina (eve, although i will probably start starting it with an i soon) and frederique (fred); respectively they are bulgarian and french, 27 and 26, architecture-office-financial-manager and international-school-maths-teacher. my favorite thing about the house so far, apart from the location, is my room, which gets lots of nice light through the trees outside its three windows.

and feels shiny and fresh now thanks to its new paint job, conducted over the long weekend - saturday (walls and trim primed, help from laura), sunday (trim painted "moroccan red," walls painted an unfortunate mixture of white with the aforementioned, help from laura, caitlin, and emily), and monday (walls repainted white except for one accented "landslide," floors (re)painted white somewhat hurriedly in order to catch the last train, help from rebecca, louisa, and dave.) those colors don't look anything like their names suggest, by the way.

so now you know about saturday-tuesday. on thursday i put in my application, and on friday i tried to sign the lease, but was unsuccessful, and i also lost my parents. yesterday was wednesday, and louisa and i had many adventures in a u-haul, including driving down an unthinkably narrow alley, past confused onlookers, with "spill the wine" on the radio, but in the meantime managed to move several pieces of furniture from swat to lo's lovely new trinity, mali's couch from ml to woolman, and the majority of my earthly possessions to the hopefully by-then dry floor of my room. then we had beef soup at pho 75, and went to see escape!, which was fun indeed, and tried to cheer bex and dave out of their bad, bad, day. yesterday the intention was to help louisa paint, but it took us rather a while to actually get productive.

anything else you want to know?

to pick up where i left the story...
