Sunday - work obsession meant reading lots of M&D to get it out of the way. Just nice to be at home and reading, for pleasure, about. I lugged home a stack (DeLillo, Tolkien x 3, Barth x 3, Calvino - "The Baron in the Trees"). I worked on a resumŽ in the afternoon, which came out surprisingly quick, I guess I'll go to CP&P and have somebody look at it later this week. Don't want to have to deal with that stuff now, but oh well. Eventually gave up with depression/workmode and decided to contact a few friends - Emiko and Nick - ideas for plans but no fruition, instead I went Xtreme bowling with Martha and her friends (Karen, Larissa, Michelle, and the Lange sisters, Alex brought along Isaac, whom I recieved at the door - tall and manly, deepvoiced and brownskinned, a wrestler and softspoken, but "he's so weird" and it's a funny coupling, almost regal and classic) and Alex and Chris. Inexplicably, I started off by bowling two strikes in a row, and a spare on the next ball. That was enough for me to win the first game with 109, but I never got close to it again, sticking in my usual 6-7-8-gutterball territory. The lights were not as exciting as promised although the music switched to good danceable jungle continuous mix with the Eagles, Fugees, Badu, and others. I was promised that we wouldn't have to drive everyone home, but we did of course, all the way out past Mt. Read and then some more, we didn't get home until after one.
And I had to get up at five-thirty for a plane at seven-thirty the next morning (yesterday) which was fine. uneventful except I felt strangely sick at the beginning of the flight, wretched but I hadn't eaten anything substantial to throw up. Waited an hour for the shuttle and read M&D in the sinfully warm air outside. Came home to find Ester in stylish red fleece pajamas that made me think of Janet, and a bagel. No other food but bagel for breakfast, bagel reuben for lunch, cereal for dinner. I went to bed at about 8:30, meaning I got twelve hours of sleep last night. Excellent. It doesn't matter that we made scant headway on the history paper, I would end up staying up tomorrow night either way. Been playing a funny game today. Found Rob to buy the moose. I did almost all of the reading for poets, so I think I'll go to it now.
