transcendence burns the jazz of your requiem bitch. that's what somebody wrote in the Palmer basement stairwell. Night was fluid into morning; sleep from 3 to 8, then up for French work and to campus for mailbox stuffing. Kari finally addressed my question in Syntax, I wasn't in any shape to argue with her about it. Actually, she acquiesced to my side before I even said anything. She introduced the "extended projection principle," which states that every sentence must have a subject - exactly what I had been trying to suggest for the last two weeks - that's my rule, baby. She claims that we still need the semantic scaffolding of the theta criterion (nerdy band-name), but the only reason she gave was to distinguish "it died" from the ungrammatical "it died," where "it" is a dummy subject. Sounds like a semantic distinction to me. Why couldn't she have said that earlier? I was too tired to do anything except eat at Sharples, read the Phoenix, and fall asleep. Four CDs were here for me today: "White Blood Cells" by the White Stripes, "Global-a-Go-Go" by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, "Emergency & I" by the Dismemberment Plan, and "Insignificance" by Jim O'Rourke. Matt and Joel came into my room wanting to play rock music, but I was not in the mood.
