like i'm supposed to be having a party tomorrow night (with ben, but i haven't been able to reach him all day) but my heart just isn't in it. presumably i'll get excited about it some time tomorrow. anyway, tell your friends - snowpants darty in the wrc, 10-2. hot cider and maybe gingerbread. or that would be nice. hopefully i'll feel like dancing then.
the tiny bit of work i have now (writing a short theatre piece in french) is wholly uncompelling for some reason. yes, i have a paper and a take-home final to deal with in the next two weeks, but both are short and won't give me too much distraction. but that won't get much sympathy around here. perhaps next semester i'll have more of a workload, and i'll be intellectually engaged again, and i can stop feeling guilty about it.
well, but let's talk about the good things in life: the snow (combined with my lack of obligations) has afforded some glee - fantastic sledding with flurie yesterday, down the steps of the belltower to sharples patio, on some of the sleds that seemed to appear out of nowhere (the ville? do swatties have sleds?). and snowfighting and falling in the crum with hannah this afternoon. and, it does make me happy. i'm especially glad for those who are seeing snow for the first time - this is such an ideal first snow.
band practice yesterday was really great, even though we're not going to play in sharples next week as per the original plan (matt thinks we won't be ready, and we argued for a long time.) some great new songs ("we were once invincible" is very catchy) and revisiting old ones ("takeoff" with the dd5 and my new verse about travis morrison, and "radical 2.") man, it was so much fun to play again. looking forward to more rehearsals coming soon.
a long-in-the-works hanging-out with rabi last night was fun if low-key. we sat in her swell parrish single (which is just what you'd expect from her website.) she waited patiently while i perused her neatly methodical cd collection, which has a lot of overlaps with mine, but also lots of things i don't know at all. (naturally.) she joined me for radio to play "snowy music" (as opposed to reggae, except in the case of that one hrvatski song), which turns out to encompass all kinds of songs. we tried to find songs about snow, without a whole lot of success. there was one that was on the tip of my mind the whole time (because it was on her shelf) but i forget to mention it: "snow showers" by trembling blue stars.
ah me. i'm going to the dance concert and road to perdition. maybe passivity can be a surrogate for activity.
which bag did they come out of
and how can i get in it?
