hullo rossi -
seems there's a rumor flyin' around at least among alumni that britney spears
is going to attend
Swarthmore starting in september. Of course I don't believe it for one second,
but I just wanted to
double confirm with you - any word of this make it onto campus? What a strange
image, eh? >>
google has no insight. speaking of alumni; i saw a whole bunch last night. at the benefit fer love and money of pig iron at the ethical society on rittenhouse. alumni known and unknown, profs, young hipsters and older theatre-scene regulars. plus me, ben, alyssa, and rebecca. we certainly got our ten bucks worth: an hour and a half of performances including dance (the headlong dance theatre - hilarious), mimery (the gals from the eels show enacting "foolish games"), first-time stand-up, french bohemian bluegrass, drag powerballads (eh) and a truly stunning ukrainian singer, who played the harmonium and sang to call the spring.
then, even better, a dance party upstairs. good food. generally good music despite some equipment troubles - a cool mix of "intergalactic" that inspired a break circle i found myself in; crowd-pleaser "pussy control" that inspired some singing along, and a lot of plunderphonic mp3 remixtures (the one i had in my head all night was kylie minogue with the beat and bass from "you spin me right round" or something; also "hard to explain" with "genie in the bottle"; "real slim shady" with "billie jean"; alex gopher with some disco hit.) nat anderson danced like elaine. alyssa had a flower in her hair. lots of hipsters on the floor, with and without rollerskates. blair and pt showed up. it was crazy.
also: on thursday i went to see bonnie prince billy; there were also a lot of hipsters there, but that's a different story.
can't get you out of my head
baby you're all i think about
