Friday, April 2

many concerts, and other things happening in evenings.

on friday we set the record for most encounters with swatties in philadelphia. discounting eva+crew on the train: dan and kether outside kingdom, joanna and pals strutting down south street, blairy blair walking into the tla as we were walking out, dan sharg running down market towards the tla as we were running away from it towards the train. laden with cabbage, ginger, springwrappers, want want, happy mouth, but no marvinyl.

stars were funny - they were so punked out: black leather, skull & crossbones guitar strap, the drummer had a fauxhawk. they didn't do any old stuff (except "comeback" which doesn't count), but they were cute anyway. torq (?) was effusive and hyperpolitical; amy seemed really out of it and unhappy, totally different from at olde club.

sorry dave, we had the chance to see both broken social scene and the constantines that night, but instead we went back to campus early to dj spring is party. fun, but unremarkable. erratic crowd. i played "closer." and "metro (brookyln)" and "erotic city."

um… oh sager. was fun. i wore a purple slip and bracelet (sarah's), becca's red beads and pink floral hot pants and a matching lily in my hair. instead of paraphrasing myself again, this is from an e-mail:

basically, although i did have a good time at sager, i thought the hosts did a lamentably minimal job with decorations (which consisted of the contents of the sac office) and lights (a problem at a lot of parties lately.  it was confusing, because there were decent lights intermittently, but never for long.)  and the music, though it was fine and danceable, was really not exciting or adventurous at all.  mostly it just felt a little too much like any other party in upper tarble and paces.  in some ways this was kind of nice - it meant that the focus really was on the people and outfits to provide the interest, and the outfits were good (though nothing really stood out as spectacular.) but in general i think the atmosphere wasn't far enough removed from everyday life (my theory goes) for people to feel comfortable really breaking out of their normal roles, which is kind of the point of sager.

towards the end i got konked in the head with brigid's elbow, rather painfully, and i went to get some ice to put on it [note: it still twinges when i wink with my left eye.]  then i decided that ice was a good prop/gimmick, and that i should spend the rest of the party going around and surprising people with melting ice on their skin, in their clothes, or whatever.  so that was fun and got some good responses.

more tomorrow (vanderslice and stevens). sleep now.

how could i possibly
be inconspicuous
when my
flow is fucking ridiculous?
